Becky rolled out her Yoga mat for the very first time over 10 years ago in an attempt to bring balance into her life. Her love for the practice grew quickly as she became more aware of just how much Yoga was supporting her mentally and emotionally through life’s challenging transitions. In 2010, she immersed herself in a month-long 200-hour intensive teacher training at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. Living and breathing this practice left her wanting more. Becky began teaching shortly after and just recently graduated from Kripalu’s 300-hour advanced teacher training! She is also certified in Prenatal Yoga.
Trained in the Kripalu tradition, Kripalu translating to compassionate, Becky emphasizes the importance of listening to one’s body and challenges students to find a balance between effort and ease in all postures. She continuously draws awareness back to the breath while inviting students to relax into postures, feel and connect to the physical sensations of the body, watch for patterns in the mind, while allowing the breath to bring them more in touch with their true Self. She believes this is the practice. Becky designs her classes to be strengthening, yet accessible, offering students various modifications and encouraging the use of props to support the body.
- Monday & Wednesday 11:15 AM – 12:15 PM – Hatha 1 – Sorrento
This class is designed for beginner students, however all levels are welcome! Before class starts, Becky checks-in with students to determine areas of the the body that may be feeling especially tight. She makes a concerted effort to guide students through a practice that addresses those concerns in order to bring balance back into the body.
Each class will begin with a brief centering to connect to the breath and relax the body. Students will then be guided through gentle movements to awaken the spine and joints. From there, she lead postures to help open and strengthen the physical body while placing emphasis on the breath. As the class winds down, she will bring students into a deep state of relaxation so they leave the studio feeling rejuvenated and optimistic about the rest of the day!
