Stockbridge, MA (Kripalu Center) – Scientific Foundations of Iyengar Yoga Practice
April 13-15, 2012

Explore classical Iyengar poses from both a yogic and a scientific perspective. Drawing on more than three decades of experience integrating Iyengar principles with anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, and psychology, Roger teaches how to use the right technique at the right time to perfect your alignment, free your movements, maintain your stamina, hone your focus, and immerse yourself in the joy of the asanas.

In this weekend workshop, you learn how to

·Safely mobilize, align, and strengthen the knees through a powerful sequence of yoga postures;
common knee injuries are explained and posture modifications provided

·Consciously regulate stretch reflexes and focus your mind to release your hamstring muscles,
protect your back, and create profoundly complete and quiet forward bends

·Use asanas to keep the sacroiliac joints and shoulders healthy, strong, and mobile

·Make your backbends deeper, easier, more stable, and more peaceful by applying anatomy,
muscle neurophysiology, psychology, breathing physiology, Iyengar asana technique, and Patanjali’s yoga philosophy.
